It is Natural stone approx. 1000 - 3000grit, very hard to find now in very good quality.
Most of Saekis sold now in Japan is super soft and very very coarse. Pretty much useless, even more many cheap Amakusa stones been sold as Saeki
Hard Black Saeki is the rarest and finest one and impossible to find now i Japan.
This one is in between Not to hard not to soft
